At Top End Bees we take huge pride in the quality of our bees. We put a lot of time and effort into testing and selection of our breeder queens. Throughout the season our hives are scored on honey production, temperament, hygienic behavior (pin and UBO testing), pollen collection and swarm tendency. Our highest scoring hives make it into our breeding program where we further work on these traits. The use of Instrumental Insemination and regular testing helps to ensure the next generation is better than the last. We understand how tough a big wet season can be on our bees and we factor their ability to survive through the wet into our selection criteria to ensure we have the best genetics, and most suitable bees for our harsh Top End environment.
