Our dry season queens are open air matted queens. They are grafted from our best performing hives and placed into our breading yards. We have drone colonies within our breading yards and orbiting drone apiaries 1-2km away to assist with drone population and genetics.
These queens are bred April - October when the weather is the best in the Top End. During this time the matting flights are easily achieved and queens are sufficiently mated. If we experience a long build up and a late wet season, dry season queens may be available into November.

Our wet season queens are open air matted queens. They are grafted from our best performing hives and placed into our breading yards. We have drone colonies within our breading yards and orbiting drone apiaries 1-2km away to assist with drone population and genetics.
These queens are available from November - March. During these months the weather can affect the matting flights of our queens. During this time, we can’t control the weather and there is a possibility the queens may not be adequately matted resulting in lower quality queens. If we believe they haven’t had adequate mating fights due to monsoonal weather they will not be sold. This may cause delays in orders and we ask for your patience and understanding.
